MUNCH presents playful guided tours, creative workshop activities and inspiring experiences, at kids’-eye level. In the winter holiday, we’ll be exploring the Georg Baselitz exhibition Feet First.

Do you ever feel like the world is upside down? Like everything’s standing on its head? Georg Baselitz does. He’s a famous German painter who rebelled against conventional ways of painting. Baselitz doesn’t care if a painting looks nice or not. He uses force and goes crazy on the canvas with different tools. And the usual things he paints – people, animals or trees – he paints them upside down.

On Children’s art day we’ll explore Baselitz’s physical universe with a breakdance performance followed by a creative painting workshop. Like Baselitz’ rough-and-ready style, breakdance is also a vital and revolutionary reaction to a hard-knock world. This dance style calls for strength and creative thinking – it lets you express yourself just how you want!

Victor Prag (30) was born and raised in Oslo. Over the past ten years he’s become one of Norway’s top breakdancers. He was Norwegian champion from 2019 to 2023, and has worked with children and young people for many years.

We start off with breakdance performance, before getting down to some painting in the museum’s lovely art workshops. Here we’ll find out if colours and crazy brush strokes can tell just as exciting a story as the thing we’re trying to paint. This event is held by the museum’s brilliant educators and workshop assistants.
