In Sense Play, we invite our very tiniest visitors to a baby workshop where we make use of the whole of our sensory apparatus. Here, babies can experience senso-motoric and creative activities, by exploring tactile installations and painting with natural and edible ingredients. In May and June we’ll be inspired by the colors and atmosphere of Yamamoto's exhibition for children "You are what you is". First, the babies will explore fabrics and objects inside the exhibition. Afterwards we go down to the museum's Workshop area to play with paint.
Yamamoto makes art accessible by creating a space where there is room for the whole person – and for building community. Yamamoto is the fourth artist in Come Think With Us!, an exhibition series for children that explores the role of participation and collaboration.
Welcome to this special version of Sense Play – an intimate, playful experience which will stimulate the senses as well as your interactions with your baby.
The workshop is developed by Emilia Ruostila, a children’s pedagogue specialising in visual art. The event is held in collaboration with the museum’s expert art educators. Yamamoto has contributed to this version by donating left-over textiles from the exhibition.
