Childrens Art Day presents “The Closer You Are”
Performance by Kiyoshi Yamamoto

Join us as Kiyoshi Yamamoto's colorful and playful exhibition comes to life! In Yamamoto's new performance for families, you will meet the shining princess Kaguya-hime who longs for something she cannot have.

The performance is inspired by the two Japanese folk tales “The Bamboo Cutter” and “Urashima Taro”. Both are about loss and finding one's home.

Movement is central to the exhibition “You Are What You Is”. This applies to both the movement in the textile works, but also the movement that occurs when thoughts and perspectives change. With this performance, Kiyoshi Yamamoto, together with dancer and performance artist Kyuja Bae and dramaturg Deise Faria Nunes, creates a visual poetic journey through time, love and loss. With the exhibition's universe as a framework, both children and adults are invited to reflect on who we are and how we perceive the world we live in.

Yamamoto explores sensory experiences, identity and culture through performance. Kiyoshi Yamamoto is the fourth artist to appear in Come Think With Us!, an exhibition series for children that explores the role of participation, collaboration and relationships when children are at the centre. This event is part of Childrens Art Day series, which offers inspiring experiences on children's terms.
