Tangent wizard and record label founder Bugge Wesseltoft has, over several decades, explored and expanded the jazz field with groundbreaking releases and a constantly curious approach to music. Particularly central has been his pioneering work with the band New Conception of Jazz, which blends jazz and electronic elements in a refreshing mix. His new album AM ARE, to be released in March, is no exception to his musical spirit of discovery, and the album release will be marked by a concert in MUNCHs Festsal.
On AM ARE, Wesseltoft has worked with various constellations across several generations and styles, creating a dynamic and varied expression. On stage that evening, Arild Andersen will play bass, Gard Nilssen will be on drums, Rohey will provide vocals, Martin Myhre Olsen will play saxophone, and Sanskriti Shrestha will play tablas, with Wesseltoft himself at the center on keyboards.
With new material from Wesseltoft and a powerful band backing him, the stage is set for a grand opening of this year’s Jazz at Munch series!
