Idin Samimi Mofakham’s music is deeply based on the traditional music of his native Iran. Since 2015, as a composer he has developed his own musical language based on medieval Persian tuning systems, just intonation and psychoacoustics.

Mofakham is the co-founder and artistic director of the Spectro Center for New Music, together with the Polish composer and conductor Martyna Kosecka. From 2019, he has been an art fellow at the Norwegian Academy of Music, and has used medieval Persian scales in radical new ways in his compositions.
