Since 2013, the band GURLS has been the lively side project of two giants of the new Norwegian jazz scene. Sax player Hanna Paulsberg and bassist Ellen Andrea Wang are joined by vocalist Marianna Sangita (Broen), making up a hard-hitting trio.Tonight, they team up with Trondheim Jazz Orchestra (TJO) for a dynamic, full-blown evening of inventive and exciting improvised music.
GURLS’ debut album Run Boy Run won a Norwegian Grammy for best jazz album in 2018. Since 2021 Trondheim Jazz Orchestra and GURLS have performed their commissioned collaboration all over the place – Jazzfest Trondheim, Mandaljazz, Moldejazz, Sildajazz, not to mention a sold-out show at Victoria in November 2022.
Together they released an album, Oui, in late 2022.
Trondheim Jazz Orchestra is an all-star ensemble made up of some of Norway’s finest jazz talents. An unbeatable combination!
