Nice Things FULL COMMUNITY

Lasse Marhaug has made a massive contribution to both the Norwegian and international music scene. As well as being an experimental musician, he is a producer (including recent albums by Jenny Hval, Kelly Lee Owens, Okkyung Lee and more), mastering engineer, sleeve designer, publisher of the Personal Best magazine, and film maker. At All Ears he will play a solo set with electronics, turntables, guitar and effects. The musical landscape will be similar to the one on his latest album Context, a crushing collection of darkside drones and machine malfunctions.

ØKSE is a new band featuring Savannah Harris and Mette Rasmussen. The word means AXE in Danish. The word has many meanings: one of humanity’s oldest tools; Ashe is also a life-force that runs through all things, living and inanimate. Ashe is a current or flow, carrying you along your road in life. All these can describe ØKSE’s free flowing music.

Mette Rasmussen – saxophone
Savannah Harris – drums
Petter Eldh – bass
Val Jeanty – SoundChemist

Evicshen (aka Victoria Shen) is a sound artist, experimental music performer, and instrument-maker based in San Francisco. Her chaotic, DIY music features analogue synthesizers, vinyl/resin records, and self-built electronics. These include ‘Needle Nails’ – acrylic fingernails fitted with turntable styluses – ‘Levitating speaker’ and ‘Noise Combs’.

Mark Wastell / Maggie Nicols / Matilda Rolfsson is an Anglo-Scandinavian trio coming together exclusively for All Ears. Vocalist Nicols is a veteran of the British free music scene since the 1970s. Wastell (cello) has played a central role as a player and Confront record label boss, which has a catalogue of over 150 releases. Rolfsson is a Swedish percussionist based in Trondheim, who incorporates dance and movement into her music making.

Nice Things is a new Oslo-based record label and collective of young improvising musicians. They share a love for all music that embodies the creative spirit. Nice Things FULL COMMUNITY will give a good glimpse of this creative bunch. A fresh addition to the Oslo improv-scene!
For the past 20 years All Ears has presented the most cutting edge avant garde music from the international improv scene. For both performers and listeners, improvised music is the art of experiencing sound in the moment.
