Harun Farocki
Parallel I–IV (2014)
Filmmaker Harun Farocki’s four-part video installation traces how computer games have developed from primitive cartoon graphics to immersive, hyperrealistic environments over thirty years. Covering a wide historical arc from the ancient Greeks to modern film theory, Farocki’s film explores body-movement capture, representations of nature, points of view and the physics of the gaming world. He also filmed behind the scenes to show the workforce creating these alternative realities. Parallel I–IV was the last work Farocki completed before his death in 2014
