The Scream will be temporarily unavailable at the end of November 2024
We’re making some improvements to our exhibition Infinite, which means some of our versions of The Scream unfortunately won’t be on view between 18.11 and 29.11.24
In the permanent exhibition Edvard Munch Infinite, there are three versions of The Scream: a painting, a drawing and a print. We are currently working on upgrading the exhibition’s southern gallery, which will mean that the three Scream versions, as well as works in the themed spaces Outdoors, In Motion, Others, Oneself, Variations and On the Surface, will be unavailable to the public in the period between 18–29 November 2024.
What we’re doing in Edvard Munch Infinite:
- Conservation of the Scream works
- Repainting the walls
- Necessary repairs and maintenance
- New, more accessible wall texts and information
We’re sorry for the inconvenience this will cause our visitors. The whole exhibition featuring all the works will be reopening from Saturday 30 November.
What will be available during the renovation period
Edvard Munch Infinite will not be completely closed. All works in the northern gallery will still be available to view the whole time. This includes the themed areas Love, Gender and To Die, which include paintings such as Girls on the Bridge, The Dance of Life, The Vampire, The Sick Child and Amor and Psyche.
What about guided tours during this period?
Guided tours for groups and school parties will still be running, and tours of Edvard Munch Infinite will be combined with our other permanent exhibitions like Edvard Munch Monumental, Shadows, Up Close and Horizons, so you’ll still get a substantial dose of Edvard Munch. Exhibitions including SOLO OSLO: Constance Tenvik and Arif at MUNCH will also be available.
