Marlene Dumas is renowned for her direct and expressive paintings, in which she confronts us with universal themes, such as angst, jealousy, death and eroticism. With the opportunity to freely select works from the Munch Museum’s collection, Dumas has assembled what she describes as “a love story about tenderness, passion and agony”. Through this exhibition, she shows us how she perceives Munch’s art in relation to her own, and lets us experience how one artist sees another.
