Screening of Leslie Thornton's open-ended series ‘Peggy and Fred in Hell’ (1983-2016) and a discussion around the post-apocalyptic as an image of the present and technology’s role in producing subjects with Sara Eliassen and Leslie Thornton.
Surrealism is without question one of the most influential and mutating intellectual and aesthetic practices emerging from the twentieth century.
This is the eighth conference organized and sponsored by the Munch, Modernism, and Modernity Research Group at the University of Oslo, the Munch Museum, and the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design in Oslo. You are welcome to attend lectures that will present a nuanced view on the traditional historical narrative of “Scandinavian Surrealism”, and re-open and expand the question of Surrealism’s broader relevance to art and culture in and of Scandinavia.
The conference will be held at the University of Oslo.
